Our interactive learning workshops give everyone the chance to learn something new and explore their creativity through imaging.
The workshops below are delivered by Imaging Partnership practitioners in curriculum or non curriculum time.

Photography workshops – breakfast, lunchtime or after school
Students of all ages enjoy these fun and creative sessions which provide an introduction to digital photography techniques. Pupils use their own or the school’s cameras, devices or equipment and sessions are practical and productive for everyone whether they’re operating a simple compact camera, a sophisticated digital bridge/SLR camera, an iPad or tablet or even a mobile phone.
The main emphasis of the sessions is learning about composition and working with lighting techniques. Topics covered in the workshop series include portraiture, fine art, forced perspective, painting with light, landscapes and architectural photography.
Schools can opt for the number of sessions that suits their needs – from a series of 6 week sessions or a whole school year. Sessions are usually for 1 hour.

Evening photography workshops
Parents and teachers love to learn photographic techniques too! We tailor the sessions to meet the needs and aspirations of the group. Sessions are targeted at teachers, parents and students so everyone can learn something new and have fun together.
Timings and frequency can be tailored to your needs. We find there is a preference to run 2 hour sessions each week for 3 weeks. Here is an example of a Family learning sessions series to give you a taste of the topics we can cover.

Curriculum based sessions
These practical sessions are designed to provide pupils with photography and film making tuition tailored to specific subjects within the curriculum framework.
Following consultation with head teachers and teachers, we propose outlines of how photography and film making can be used to provide a practical perspective to otherwise theoretical mainstream curriculum subjects. Our practitioners deliver a whole day, half day or hourly sessions directly to the pupils within curriculum-time. We also offer these as ‘curriculum freeze’ days which are filled with practical interactive and fun photography sessions with something for everyone in the group.
We’re currently working alongside teachers for key stages 1 to 4 providing curriculum based photography sessions for –
- Science – school flora, healthy eating, the use of light, the three states of matter
- History – Ancient Greece, the Anglo Saxons and Vikings, the Victorians
- Art – painting with light, industry branded packaging
- Intervention schemes for individuals and groups
We can tailor curriculum based photography and film making sessions for all curriculum subjects.
Bespoke Curriculum Design Service
Our bespoke curriculum design service is popular with schools who want to integrate visual arts and optical led learning into their existing curriculum.
In partnership with teachers, we create practical workshop lesson plans for teachers with handouts for students into a pack, designed to fit with their timeframes and subject syllabus. This services enables teachers and students to focus on contextualized learning through practical and topical first hand experiences, become highly motivated by promoting a passion for learning, incorporating student voice and collaboration, nurture respect for themselves and promote high self-esteem values so they can self-reflect critically to improve the quality of their work and master and apply new skills in visual arts that integrate into emerging technologies.

Image Manipulation workshops
Sessions start at the intermediate level operation of software such as Adobe Photoshop Elements©, through to advanced photo-manipulation using the latest CS software. We tailor sessions according to the age group and educational needs of students as well as training for teachers. Workshops are usually run over half or whole days with follow up sessions if required.

Creative iPad and Tablet workshops
These workshops are all about getting the most from iPads and tablets. Students use their own or the school’s devices to tap into their creative potential and enhance their school work in new and exciting ways. Projects such as making short films, creating comic books and producing outstanding presentations are delivered in a fun and accessible way by experienced creative practitioners using readily available apps.
We tailor the content to suit the age group and learning aspirations of the class. Dependent on the needs of the teachers and students, we include elements such as how to use the built in camera and video, how to set up a school cloud, how to import images from external devices, how to set up projectors to work with iPads and tablets and so on – the opportunities are endless!
Workshops are usually run over half or whole days with follow up sessions if desired.
Examples of themed creative iPad/tablet workshop days –
- Media Arts: Movie making, sound effects editing, animation, adding music for the moving image
- Improving literacy: Storytelling, publishing, graphic design, creating comic style books
- Improving sports performance: Making movies of students practising their chosen sport and evaluating progress over time
- Elevating drama: Enhancing dramatic performance by filming drama sequences to critique and evaluate. Film content could focus on costume, dramatic performance, or set design
At the end of each workshop day, students will have a finished project whether it be a printed comic book, a giant printed display for the classroom or a short film.
All workshops are designed to enhance the learning experience in curriculum subjects – both for teachers and students.

Staff training photography, cinematography and image manipulation workshops
Perfect for INSET and team building days, practical workshops broaden and deepen teaching staff knowledge of photography, cinematography and image manipulation as part of their CPD. Feedback from teachers also shows that these workshops stimulate ideas on how to add a further dimension to curriculum subjects by bringing photography, cinematography and digital storyboarding into the classroom using digital cameras, iPads, tablets and other devices.

Mentoring/ specialist topic groups and one-to-one workshops
These photography, cinematography and imagery manipulation workshops offer mentoring and consultancy for small groups of students and one-to-one tutoring if required. Sessions can be tailored for all age groups, educational needs and abilities.

Curriculum Enrichment Week Workshops
Imaging Partnership is pleased to offer fun and exciting workshops to be held in enrichment weeks. There is a choice of subjects to focus on or a choice of the subjects can be grouped together. These subjects include, photography, cinematography, animation and filmmaking. Each subject covers the necessary theory with the main emphasis on practical, hands-on learning. Students will be encouraged to enhance their existing creativity, problem solving and working as a team. Students will have memorable experiences that will complement their successes in their other classes with the use of interesting cross-curricular projects. Social Action Campaigns
As an outcome of the work we are doing in schools, students are building on their learning and translating it into self-led social action campaigns. Participation on our leadership, entrepreneurship, and Innovation programmes has prompted a call to action for students who want to take their new skills and experience and turn it into something positive for their school and their wider community.
One example of this new social action is in a UK school which has a partner school overseas. Students working on our Leadership Programme decided to translate their learning into a mentoring initiative for the younger students in the school. The older students (aged 17 and 18 years) devised their own training module aimed at 12 and 13 year olds to learn about using visual arts skills in with burgeoning industries.

Learning Assessments
These are practical on-line tools for teachers to assess their students’ progress. They provide complete anonymity for all teacher feedback including scores and written comments – ideal for exam preparation.
Unlimited number of teachers in any school within the package.
Feedback is compiled into an easy-to-read report. Teachers and their students are able to see overall results as well as specific sections of the report. There is an attributes summary at the end of the report which lists all sections ranked from highest to lowest based on overall average score.

School Experience Solutions

It includes a monthly one-hour live call with one of our Partnership Directors which charts progress and supports teachers to reach their goals. High Performance Coaching Programme
High performance coaching can help you to understand your strengths, talents and sense of purpose to move towards greater competence and excellence in what you do. IP High Performance Coaching is for teachers and older students who want to improve overall performance and create greater results. On our programme which is conducted one to one by video conference and email by experienced UK professionals, you will learn how to be an effective coach by:

Innovations
Innovations Case Studies
A specific outcome from our range of Innovation Learning Programmes is often the design and production of an innovation product. Students from 7 to 17 have taken part in classroom projects that have innovation at their heart. Here are some examples of these projects:
Children have designed and produced a healthcare screening machine prototype as an outcome of their 3D Design programme from IP-Unite.
Students created an APP in IMAX mode.
Students on the Creating Small Innovations Programme created an APP to convert a standard image into a wide screen image.
On their Using Optics Skills for Life programme, students undertook a project called Medicine Meets Optics. The 17 year olds, who were all interested in pursuing a career in medicine furthered their understanding of how optics feeds into medical profession.
A group of 7 year olds working on their PCs created a basic coding formula for what it would take to correct short-sighted vision.
Medical Informatics was the topic studied by students on IP’s Working Internationally in Visual Technologies Programme. Students aged 16 and 17 used code to design a records programme which stored specific patient information which would improve patient care.
Students built their own camera lenses on their IP programme: Building our own cinema camera lenses programme. A group of 11 year olds designed an information feedback system for medical settings to analyse dietary requirements for patients.
Students worked on the Using Camera Technologies Used in Movies programme. A group of 10 year olds designed and built a basic systems camera.
Students undertook the Designing and Making Solutions for Cinema Cameras programme. A group of 16 year olds designed and built a wider dynamic range camera which means that a range of information can be sent to the camera sensor.

IP Brand Advocates
Schools around the world are training their teachers to deliver IP certified learning programmes to give students a competitive advantage when it comes to emerging industries based on visual arts and optics.
The delivery arrangements in schools differ. A popular choice is to deliver the programmes as extracurricular workshops where parents pay for the sessions on a weekly or monthly basis.
Schools can buy IP programmes and train teachers to deliver just one, or a series or a whole family of programmes. This flexibility and choice means that students can benefit in a range of ways and teachers and schools can tailor the scope and scale of extended learning as they see fit. We are also inviting teachers to get involved with developing new programmes by advising us of the topic they would like to explore.
International schools are acting as a hub for an area or specific territory and we work together with state schools to spread the learning further.

Why optics and emerging industries?
Increasingly, industries around the world require imaging skills. Having an understanding and exploring imaging from a young age provides a competitive advantage for students, whatever their ability levels.
Medical healthcare, bio technology, optical engineering and camera innovation are great examples of imaging in action. Our learning programmes align imaging with emerging technologies to provide a robust foundation for future study or more direct pathways into the world of work.
On an immediately practical level, Imaging skills are essential for students who are producing digital documents and films as part of their coursework – imaging expertise can transform a good project into an outstanding project.
